The eleventh National Independence Day became the twelfth legal official holiday, celebrating the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans. On that day in 1865, Union soldiers led by General Gordon Granger arrived in the coastal city of Galveston, Texas to deliver General Order No. 3, which officially ended slavery in the state.
On Monday, June 19, 2023, the Federal Reserve will be closed in observance of Juneteenth Day.
Although payroll partners will be open, checking dates on or after vacation will be affected. Affected check dates include:
- Monday 19 June
- Tuesday 20 June

Please see a payroll specialist if your payroll falls on one of the affected dates above. As always, our team is here to help with any questions you have about payroll or checking dates.
